Canadian AD carry Johnny “Altec” Ru is back to practicing with the team in Los Angeles this week. Altec stepped down several weeks ago due to team management described as personal matters.

“We’re all glad to have Altec back,” NRG Esports general manager Chad “History Teacher” Smeltz told the Daily Dot. “We’re looking forward to being even more cohesive as a team leading up to playoffs.”

The team used Ember AD carry Benjamin “LOD” DeMunck in place of Altec during during week seven of the LCS. Once that loan deal expired, the team brought on Enemy marksman Brian “otter” Baniqued in private scrimmages.

NRG has had something of a bumpy start to their season. The team currently holds fifth place, tied with Team Liquid, below Immortals, Counter Logic Gaming, Cloud9, and Team SoloMid. The team’s had little success signing new players to bolster the roster. Several weeks ago, CEO Gerard “Atlas” Kelly suggested benching Galen “Moon” Holgate in favor of other potential options, such as Team Dragon Knights jungler Kevin “Kez” Jeon or former Team Liquid jungler Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera. Neither of those deals ultimately went through, and the team decided to keep Holgate for at least the remainder of the season.

Now, NRG will look to get back on its feet in its games against Immortals and Team Liquid this weekend.
