Frostpunk 2 devs hint at upcoming DLCs and returning locations

In a Q&A on Reddit, Frostpunk 2 game directors Kuba Stokalski and Łukasz Juszczyk from 11 bit studios answered multiple burning questions from fans, and hinted at what may come after the game releases. Among many topics, community members brought up DLCs for Frostpunk 2. While the developers didn’t reveal much, they assured everyone the DLCs will release, including the previously-announced three and potentially even more.

“But don’t worry—we have a few solid ideas that came up during development, and we can’t wait to bring them to you,” the developers wrote. “The game is built in a way that allows us to expand its current mechanics in many exciting directions. Just think about factions or procedurally generated cities ready to settle.”

Another fan asked whether the sequel will have scenarios or events about locations from the original game, like Winterhome and New Manchester. The developers stoked some excitement with their response: “As for revisiting places from FP1 and DLCs – let’s wait and see! :)”

Juszczyk also pointed out in a different answer that while the team likely won’t explore other nations as a core part of the story, they might work around the concept of nations itself. “Especially since we believe that some of the messed-up things in the world are driven by these very concepts — and that’s a notion we’d be much more inclined and inspired to explore creatively,” Juszczyk wrote.

Frostpunk 2 releases on Sept. 20 with an official modding toolkit. So, while you’re waiting for official DLCs to ship, be prepared to see multiple mods created by talented community members and players.
