Doom Island in Fortnite was added in the Sept. 4 update, but it’s only a rare occurrence, unlike other aspects of the current season that you can find in every match. Instead, you’re left rolling the odds in each match.

How to find and capture Doom Island in Fortnite Chapter Five, season four

Finding Doom Island in Fortnite is a tricky challenge because there is no guarantee the island will spawn in your game. Instead, there’s only a five percent chance of Doom Island spawning in your match in place of Loot Island.

The process is made even harder because you must stay alive long enough for the island to spawn. Usually, Loot Island’s location is marked after the third or fourth storm circle. After a short period, Loot Island appears in the sky.

It’s immediately clear if Doom Island spawns in place of Loot Island, as a message appears on the screen saying, “The Isle of Doom is rifting in! Embrace the power it holds!” If you see this message, make a beeline for the location shown on the map.

The process of capturing Doom Island in Fortnite is the same as Loot Island; you just need to stand in the marked area until the capture is complete—but the main difference is everyone in your match is almost certain to make a beeline for the location.

While Loot Island can provide some decent rewards, it’s not necessary to capture it. If you have enough decent loot already, you can skip it. However, you should never ignore Doom Island and should always prioritize capturing it.

Successfully capturing Doom Island transforms you into Doom’s Chosen, boosting your Health and Shield to 500 each, while eliminations grant Shield Siphon. You always gain Unlimited Sprint.

On top of those huge bonuses, three powerful attacks are available: A multishot Arcane Barrage, a Scorch Beam, and the Mystical Gigabomb. You can also take advantage of a Dive Kick to deal damage.

Successfully capturing Doom Island and transforming into Doom’s Chosen is an almost certain way to guarantee victory, as you are incredibly difficult to defeat in this form and can deal huge amounts of damage.
