Fortnite’s Infantry Rifle projectile size was increased in the v8.10 update, Epic reveals

This change was missing from the patch notes.

Epic Games has increased the projectile size of Infantry Rifles in the v8.10 update for Fortnite: Battle Royale—but the developer failed to include that in the patch notes, community coordinator Sean “MrPopoTFS” Hamilton said on Reddit.

This change was made to improve the accuracy when shooting with any variant of the Infantry Rifle, and players should be able to notice it’s easier to hit shots with it since the update was released two days ago.

MrPopoTFS revealed this change in a thread where a player was asking for an Infantry Rifle buff, such as its damage or hip fire accuracy. The only change to the gun that was in the v8.10 patch notes was the removal of its Common variant, while all its other stats remained the same.

The Infantry Rifle was introduced in the v7.40 update a few weeks ago as a new Assault Rifle. It has fast projectiles with no damage falloff, which means its close and long-range damage are the same. There are rumors about upcoming Epic and Legendary variants for the Infantry Rifle that have yet to be confirmed by Epic Games.

So far, the projectile size change is the only major gameplay tweak that Epic made in the v8.10 that is missing from the patch notes. Other changes to Fortnite weapons include the rarity and damage reduction of Heavy Assault Rifles, which are now available in Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants dealing 36, 38, and 40 damage per shot instead of Rare, Epic, and Legendary dealing more damage for each variant.

Players should be able to notice their improved accuracy with the Infantry Rifle as soon as they drop into their next Fortnite match.
