Report: Fortnite on Android gets 30-day exclusivity on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9

A new report suggests Fortnite could finally be coming to Android within the next few weeks. But there’s a catch.

If you want to play Fortnite on Android before the end of the summer, you’ll need to pick up a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 9, according to a report by 9to5Google. Fortnite will be available on Android exclusively on the new phone for 30 days before releasing on the Android’s Play Store about a month later.

Citing an unnamed source, the report says that the phone will be announced on Aug. 9, and pre-orders will open on Aug. 14 before the phone releases on Aug. 24. If accurate, that means that Fortnite could become widely available on Android a month later, on or around Sept. 23.

But that’s not all, folks. The source also told 9to5Google that there will be specific incentive to purchase the phone for those that love Fortnite. The phone will have a package deal that also includes “$100-150” in V-Bucks for in-game use. For those not interested in Fortnite, another option is wireless AKG headphones.

File this one under a rumor for now, but if there’s anything to take away from it and get excited about, it’s that we now have a potential release window for Fortnite on Android.

The battle royale title has had tremendous success on mobile, even though it’s been available exclusively on iOS up until this point. A recent report revealed that the game is making over $2 million a day on mobile, and that number should jump even higher once the Android version is released.
