Diablo 4 player uncovers ‘pay-to-win’ exploit with ranged spells and summons

It's "technically" pay-to-win for now

Diablo 4 just entered open beta for players to sample a bit of what the game has to offer but one person has already found something exploitable.

Seeing that teleport and other spells in Diablo 4 has an infinite range, Neeko2lo was interested in how this would pair up with an ultrawide monitor. Sure enough, there was an advantage because you could place your summons much farther than usual and teleport long distances that are otherwise impossible if you’re using a normal monitor.

This exploit technically makes Diablo 4 pay-to-win as this gives an unfair advantage to people with much more expensive monitors seeing that ultrawide monitors are around $300 USD. This is obviously not what Activision Blizzard wanted to happen with spells like this as this is going to be broken during world bosses and dungeons speed runs as it allows people to teleport to previously unreachable places due to the increased range.

While the game is still in open beta, it’s totally understandable if Activision Blizzard will take their time in fixing this exploit or if they’re just going to let it be for the duration of the beta and just patch it out once the game is released. Progress will not carry over to the actual release of the game so the devs can easily take their time assessing the situation before making any choices.

Diablo 4 is slated for release on June 6, 2023, and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
