The best-of-three winners’ matches of this year’s DreamHack Masters Malmö group stage are set for tomorrow, and there are plenty of games to look forward to before the event’s conclusion on Sept. 3.
SK Gaming and North will play for the first playoff spot in Group A, after they defeated BOOT-dreamScape and Cloud9, respectively. SK demolished BOOT 16-2 on Mirage, while North bested C9 16-10 on Inferno, one of their most favored maps to date. The loser of the SK-North match will play C9 in a best-of-three elimination match to decide the second playoff spot from Group A.

In the Group B team pool, Astralis and Natus Vincere will go head-to-head for another playoff spot at DreamHack’s $250,000 event. The loser of that match will go on to play Renegades, who upset Virtus Pro 16-7 on Cache earlier today.
Group C, on the other hand, has some odd matchups tomorrow because of an unexpected win. Gambit Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas will compete in the Group C winners’ match, after NiP defeated a newly-stacked FaZe Clan roster 16-8 on Nuke. Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg also dropped a 30 kill bomb against a tactically struggling FaZe. Gambit, however, made slight work of Mousesports at 16-6 on Train thanks to a dominant Counter-Terrorist side.
The initial matches in Group D were a madhouse, as Immortals and G2 Esports survived close games to prevent them from dropping to the losers’ match. Immortals pulled away from Fnatic in the last round of Cobblestone at 16-14, despite their mistakes. G2 came in clutch in the second half against Team EnVyUs on Inferno, since their Terrorist side was too much for their French counterpart to handle. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and Kenny “kennyS” Schrub put up some impressive numbers to close out their game at 16-13.
Tomorrow’s winners’ matches will be the second to last day in the group stage before teams take all of the Counter-Strike action to the Malmö Arena on Sept. 2.
