The final season of Modern Warfare 3 is set to begin next week and it’s themed all around the seasonal Halloween event, The Haunting.
Activision announced the new season in a blog today, expanding on an earlier social media post about the spooky theme that reunites Call of Duty with Michael Myers for the first time since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The Haunting returns with special modes, skins, and more, but the season six battle pass is focused on two new weapons. The DTIR 30-06 battle rifle and Kastov LSW LMG are both a part of the pass and can be unlocked for free. A new multiplayer map called Drive Thru is the lone new location for the season, with six additional map remakes coming in season six, too.
Three new Aftermarket Parts also supplement the scary offerings, which include the return of Zombie Royale in Warzone and Purgatory, which is “a new squad-based LTM taking place on the Hellspawn map variant featuring a sandbox setting where squads can battle and complete objectives at their own pace.”
The CoD Store will add several new seasonal operators, too, including The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon, Art the Clown from Terrifier, Sam from Trick r’ Treat, and twisted, smiley versions of Valeria and Makarov from the upcoming Smile 2.
The Haunting event will run from Sept. 18 to Oct. 16, with free rewards to unlock. The Walking Dead: Road to Terminus event takes place from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2, Trick r’ Treat: Candy Hunt goes from Oct. 2 to 16, and Purgatory Island will be playable in Warzone from Sept. 25 to Oct. 16. A final event, “MWIII Rewind,” is scheduled for Oct. 9 to 16 to say goodbye to the game before Black Ops 6 comes out a little over a week later.
