Newest Call of Duty patch tweaks weapons in MW2 and Warzone independently

Gun changes depend on what you play.

A bunch of weapons just got nerfed and buffed in Call of Duty today, but which weapons and how depend on whether you’re playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone.

Both MW2 multiplayer and the Warzone battle royale component (including DMZ) had changes independent of each other in today’s update. Several guns across multiple weapon classes were hit.

This is an interesting update because changes independent between games are common but rare at the same time. Changes come to Warzone only or MW2 only, but an update including both doesn’t happen often.

The update also included some bug fixes, but the main draw for many will be the long list of changes to several meta weapons, including the TR-76 Geist, Kastov 762, and more.

Here’s everything that’s changing in the update today.

MW2 and Warzone Oct. 23 patch notes

For MW2, seven SMGs got changes, including nerfs to the Vaznev-9K, Lachmann Shroud, ISO 9, and Minibak, while the PDSW 528, Fennec, and BAS-P got some slight buffs.

When it comes to ARs in MW2, nerfs are abound for the TR-76 Geist and TAQ-56, while there are buffs for the Kastov 762, FR Avancer, M16, Tempus Razorback, M4, and Lachmann-556.

Elsewhere, most notably, the Lockwood 300 and KV Broadside shotguns got hit with heavy nerfs. The one-shot Lockwood 300 took a big damper with a reduction in damage range to its Maelstrom Dual Trigger with 12 Gauge and Dragon’s Breath ammo, and the Broadside’s Dragon’s Breath got a damage range reduction.

In Warzone, heavy nerfs are on deck for the Kastov 762 and TR-76 Geist, two weapons that are heavily used in the meta right now. The Lachman-556 and M4 got some slight buffs, while the M13B received both positive and negative changes.
