MLG Announce X Games Austin – June 2015
Major League Gaming announced earlier today that they will be returning to Austin, Texas from June 4-7 to host the playoffs for the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Pro League and the joinDota Pro League.
Like last year on Call of Duty: Ghosts, eight teams will be competing for the prestigious X Games medals with one team taking home the Gold at the end of the weekend. However, while last year was decided on pro points and placements at the Call of Duty Championship, this year is decided by the eight teams at the top of the Season Two Pro League standings.
Unlike last year’s CoD event, this year teams will be fighting for $75,000 along with the coveted X Games medals. This is important for the growth of CoD eSports, because teams will now be playing for some serious cash.

Another reason why having the Season 2 playoffs at the X Games is important is because it brings more attention to the league. It also forces players to take it more seriously, because more than just money is on the line. During Season 1 of the CoD Pro League this year, teams became disinterested with the league because preparing for CoD Champs was more important to them.

MLG has also announced that Call of Duty will be joined by another incredibly popular eSport title, Dota 2, in partnership with the joinDota Pro League. It’s important to continue to expand eSports titles in mainstream media. Earlier this year, MLG held a CS:GO invitational event at the Winter X Games in Colorado.
