“Having spent years with a traditional sports league, it was evident that competitive gaming was booming—well now it’s here and here to stay,” Park said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to build an esports powerhouse in Gen.G, especially here in the US and specifically LA, setting the bar for what a gold standard organization should look like.”

Park will operate out of Gen.G’s new Los Angeles-based headquarters. Gen.G also has a location in Seoul, South Korea, where it’s Korean players train. The new Los Angeles headquarters is expected to work similarly for the Los Angeles players, like the Overwatch League’s Seoul Dynasty.

Gen.G currently operates teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Fortnite, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Both the PUBG and Heroes of the Storm teams won championships in 2018. Gen.G also announced the addition of NBA champion Chris Bosh as a player management advisor.
