All Apex Legends players will finally be able to buy the game’s first Battle Pass soon. The season one Battle Pass costs 950 Apex Coins, and players can buy it tomorrow (March 19) at 12pm CT from the in-game Store to start unlocking new items.
The Apex Legends Battle Pass will offer a way to get exclusive cosmetic items in the game that’s very similar to the system Fortnite: Battle Royale started using since its release. Players make a single payment for a series of cosmetic items they can only unlock after meeting some requirements, which are generally to complete certain missions or challenges while also getting experience points. Players should be able to unlock more items from the Battle Pass as they complete missions.
The Apex Battle Pass offers limited types of items. It won’t reward players with new Legends, only with cosmetic items that have no influence on gameplay. Players are sure to find weapon and character skins, as well as banners and other quips to use in their player cards.
The game’s newest Legend, Octane, will be sold separately and is excluded from the Battle Pass.
This new Battle Pass system in Apex will probably maintain all other microtransaction systems. The Store where players can buy skins and other cosmetics will still be there for purchase with Apex Coins, but it’s likely that items in the season one Battle Pass will remain exclusive to owners of the pass at least until the season is over.
The first season of the Apex Legends Battle Pass is set to last until June, with no exact date set yet for its end. That’s when players should expect a second season of the pass with another set of cosmetic items ready to be unlocked.
