The roster, which placed fifth in Overwatch Contenders season one in Europe, will be released into free agency, the organization announced. Most of the players need to find new homes in Overwatch, but Gael “Poko” Gouzerch has already secured a spot on the Philadelphia Fusion Overwatch League team.

GamersOrigin was not able to secure a spot in the upcoming Overwatch League, and does not see a future there according to GamersOrigin esports director Yann-Cédric Mainguy. GamersOrigin cited uncertainty about the competitive scene outside of the Overwatch League as reason for its exit.

As Overwatch League ramps up, the rest of the competitive scene is in limbo. Many smaller organizations are unsure of the future of Overwatch outside of Blizzard’s professional league. Blizzard will continue its Overwatch Contenders tournaments, though a schedule has not yet been released for the second season.

The move by GamersOrigin comes three days after South Korean esports organization Afreeca Freecs dropped its Overwatch team too, but did not provide a reason.
