Riot showed how some of League’s sounds were made, and it’s really cool

The audio team had to get creative for some of them.

If you’ve ever had to create explosions, crush vegetables with your hands, spin around a whip like a propeller, or blow into a warhorn, you may have what it takes to be on Riot Games’ audio team.

The game developer showed its fans how some of League of Legends’ in-game sounds were created using tools and props on-site in a video posted to Twitter yesterday, and it looks like a ton of fun.

Some of the sounds showcased in the video aren’t actually for the game itself, however. For example, there is a torch being swooshed through the air that was used for Tibbers’ running in a cinematic from 2013 called “A Twist of Fate.”

You may recognize a few of the other sounds from the game, however, like Taliyah’s Threaded Volley, which appears to be nothing but ceramic tiles shifting around. There are also sounds for poros moving around, chimes, and a few more.

We don’t know if Riot will continue sharing videos like this that give insight into the inner workings of the design team, but we do know one thing for sure—we’ll never be able to stop picturing how these sounds were made when we listen to them in League or in Riot’s cinematics.
