Can you evolve Stantler into Wyrdeer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

A long time to wait.

After the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, everyone’s favorite Reindeer Pokémon Stantler finally got its first evolution in over 20 years—but in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it appears as though Wyrdeer is nowhere in sight.

No matter how many times you use a certain move, or how many levels you put into your Stantler, the Pokémon never seems to evolve into Wyrdeer, which is causing confusion among trainers. After all, it’s not like Wyrdeer was a regional form, but the normal evolution method won’t work.

Can you evolve Stantler into Wyrdeer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Even as Scarlet and Violet get more Hisuian Pokémon added to the game’s Pokédex, Stantler is unable to evolve into Wyrdeer as of The Teal Mask’s release on Sept. 13.

Stantler was included in the base Paldean Pokédex and does have access to Psyshield Bash as an Egg Move in the game. Using that move 20 times in Legends: Arceus and leveling up Stantler would result in an evolution to Wyrdeer, however, that is not the case in Scarlet and Violet.

Despite having Psychield Bash, Stantler has no way of evolving until Game Freak includes Wyrdeer in the game’s data.

How to get Wyrdeer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You currently can’t obtain Wyrdeer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet unless you use Pokémon HOME.

You can transfer a Wyrdeer from Legends: Arceus to Pokémon HOME and then bring it over into Paldea. This is the only way to get most Hisuian Pokémon and evolutions like Hisuian Ursaluna, though some like Basculegion and Hisuian Growlithe are obtainable in other ways in The Teal Mask.
