Master Yi set to receive balance changes in future League patch, according to Riot dev

The Wuju Bladesman might be returning to the meta next month.

Master Yi changes are being tested by the devs and are expected to be implemented in a future League of Legends patch, according to lead designer Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison.

The balance changes won’t be implemented in Patch 12.12, however. Since the upcoming patch is scheduled for next week, the Master Yi change will have to wait until sometime in July, according to the official patch schedule.

Master Yi has vanished from the spotlight over the past few months and now has a global pick rate lower than 10 percent in ranked, according to stats site OP.GG, and an abysmal pick rate of 0.56 percent in the Challenger tier.

The champion has dropped in popularity since he received a nerf to his ultimate with Patch 12.9 in May. The changes reduced his bonus attack speed from 10 percent at level two and 20 percent at level three.

It’s unclear what kind of changes are being tested by the dev team at the moment. His previous nerf could be partially reverted, or another ability could receive a buff instead.

According to the testing results, any change to the champion will be tentative and subject to change. He could, though, profit from item changes in the next week. The devs will almost certainly provide more details on the Master Yi changes in the weeks to come.
