League of Legends’ Patch 8.20 is only a day away, and that means the long-awaited Ezreal update is here, too, according to the official patch notes.
There are several things to keep in mind with this update. While Ezreal will be receiving a massive visual update, including a complete and total graphical redesign, this is going to be different than the other major champion updates of the past year or so. While the visual changes to Warwick, Galio, Swain, Evelynn, and the rest were accompanied by massive ability changes, too, this one will not be. Instead, only one ability is changing in a major way, while the rest are just receiving tweaks to numbers.
His W is the ability that’s changing, and from a gameplay perspective, that’s the most important aspect of the update. It changes how Ezreal fights, be it in lane or during large teamfights. Rather than a simple skillshot that damages and travels through minions, he now fires out an orb that attaches to targets and detonates when hit by other abilities. He can even damage structures with it, and this forces him to dance around big fights and turn into a bit of a burst marksman.
As far as visuals go, there isn’t much to complain about. All his skins, including Pulsefire, have been rebuilt to go along with the major update, and he’s packed full of new voice lines and interactions, too. Here’s everything included in the update.
