Players are having trouble getting into Overwatch and other Blizzard games

It's not a server problem, though.

Overwatch and other Blizzard games are experiencing connectivity problems, the developer reported on Twitter.

Players across Blizzard’s range of titles and platforms are experiencing latency and disconnects while playing. Blizzard has not yet found the cause of the issue, though it did report that it’s not an internal server issue. The problem appears to be a wider issue with internet connectivity and not a Blizzard server fluke.

“We continue to monitor an issue that is affecting various regions of internet traffic,” Blizzard wrote on Twitter. “This has not been found to be an internal issue with our service, but may be affecting some of our players and their connections to the game.”

Earlier in the day, Blizzard tweeted that it had been informed of “fiber cuts” that affected the connectivity to its games, as well as its authentication and web features.

There’s no fix at the moment, but players are encouraged to keep an eye on the Blizzard customer service Twitter account for updates. The issue has been ongoing for over five hours. As for Overwatch, it’d be wise not to risk jumping into competitive matches until the issue is confirmed to be resolved. Getting kicked from a ranked Overwatch match will put you at risk of being banned, regardless of why you were booted.
