Gfinity, a top U.K.-based tournament and production outfit, has signed a major sponsorship deal with fast food chain Domino’s. The Domino sponsorship will see the company sponsor all Elite and Challenger Series tournaments, and develop branded on-air segments for the tournaments live broadcasts. As part of this new partnership, Domino’s has also received the rights to jersey sponsorship for teams in Gfinity leagues. Gfinity operates an Elite and a Challenger series in games like Rocket League, Street Fighter V, and FIFA. It’s the biggest and most organized esports competition in the U.K. Domino’s will also be creating advertisements for the Elite series, so perhaps Dominos will be trying to market esports to its own customer base too. The sponsorship will run until December 2020. “Esports has become the entertainment of choice for brands looking to connect with young adult consumers,” executive chairman of Gfinity Garry Cook told City A.M. “It is exciting, it is growing and it is full of opportunity. We look forward to working with Domino’s to create new and innovative ways to bring even more excitement and interest in the Elite series.” Gfinity has undergone exponential growth in the past 12 months, attracting major brands like UNILAD to the Elite series. The company has also expanded the Elite Series to Australia, where the grand final of the inaugural season took place on July 9. Rocket League joined the Elite series on July 9, 2017, and has quickly become one of the major tournaments in the popular game’s esports circuit. The next season of the Gfinity Challenger Series starts on July 30.
