October is approaching, and with it, Blizzard is bringing back Overwatch’s Halloween Terror event for another year.

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan discussed the upcoming seasonal event in a Developer Update posted to YouTube today. “It’s always one of my favorite times of the year,” Kaplan said. “There’s going to be certain areas [in Overwatch] that look spooky that weren’t spooky previously.”

Kaplan didn’t give too many hints as to what we can expect for Halloween Terror this year, but he did say that Junkenstein’s finally getting a bride. “I’ll let you speculate as to who that might be,” he said.

But there’s not going to be dramatic new game modes in Halloween Terror and other upcoming events. Kaplan spoke generally about seasonal events, with Blizzard continuing to create “awesome cosmetic content.” But elsewhere, Blizzard isn’t focusing as much on new seasonal brawls, especially when the ones it already offers are so good.

Junkenstein’s Revenge will get “minor iterations,” but it’ll be similar to how it was before. It’s very intentional, Kaplan said. Blizzard is shifting its focus away from major changes to seasonal event games, and instead working on hero balance changes and quality-of-life adjustments.

During the Developer Update, Kaplan also addressed a number of those hero changes. The largest is a Torbjörn rework that should increase his viability. Pharah, McCree, Soldier: 76, and Orisa are all being tweaked, too. All the hero balance changes should be up on the Overwatch PTR soon.
