Through four weeks of the ESL Pro League, NRG Esports are tied for first in the North American bracket with 32 points.

Last season, NRG finished fourth in NA and were eliminated in the group stage of the ESL Pro League season six finals with a top eight placing. Following that loss, there was a big shakeup in the roster.

Allan “AnJ” Jensen was bought out of his contract not even a year after signing with the team. This move allowed NRG to sign former CLG role player, Ethan “nahtE” Arnold.

AnJ struggled with adjusting to his new role, and the addition of nahtE—someone who was already accustomed to the position—made the transition almost seamless. Once nahtE joined the team in January, NRG set their sights on improving their performance in ESL’s seventh season.

Now well into the season, NRG’s newest addition is the second-ranked player in the world and averaging a 1.6 K/D ratio with 268 kills against 167 deaths.

Not only that, but three of the four returning NRG players also rank in the top 10. Cvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov (third), Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte (fourth), and Jacob “FugLy” Medina (eighth) round out the only roster with that many players ranked anywhere in the top 20.

With only three weeks remaining in the season, the upcoming match between NRG and Liquid could decide who holds the NA crown heading into the finals.
