It’s been difficult for Meet Your Makers to stay out of the headlines lately. After becoming the center of controversy for threatening to have the parent of a player evicted, they began shedding their starting roster.
Already the worst team in the European League Championship Series in terms of results, they stand to lose their mid-laner Marcin “Kori” Wolski and have already had to replace experienced top-laner Mimer “Mimer” Ahlström. Now the team’s relationship with Cho “H0R0” Jae-hwan has been pushed to the breaking point, and it seems the their Korean jungler will soon leave.
Rumors initially circulated around the professional circuit that Cho Jae-hwan would be benched for the sixth week of the LCS. The reasons varied, with some saying pointing to visa renewal problems and others pointing to internal problems with the team. “The team really isn’t getting along right now and they want to try some other options,” one source close to the organisation told the Daily Dot. “No-one seems happy with how things are.”
Now, the player is said to be looking for a permanent exit rather than a temporary replacement. “He’s had a tough time in MYM,” one source close to the player said. “He’s not enjoying it and they don’t seem to value him. With the negative publicity and now it getting out that he was going to be benched it’s most likely he will be leaving as soon as he can.”
Meet Your Makers had been looking at LowLandLions White jungler Thomas “Kirei” Yuen as a possible replacement. After prolonged talks, however, neither organization could arrive at an agreement, with the stumbling block apparently the player’s buy-out fee.
It’s not the first time Meet Your Makers have turned to the Dutch organization to look to potential recruitment solutions. With Wolski’s departure imminent, they also held talks with LowLandLions about the availability of Sofyan “CozQ “ Rechchad, but arrived at a similar impasse.
With time running out for the organization, it’s now turned its attention to Dennis “Obvious” Sørensen of Gamers2. A deal looks likely to be resolved soon—though Sørensen has also had an offer from a North American team. What the future will hold for Cho Jae-hwan isn’t clear.
