As we get closer and closer to the release of Hearthstone’s newest expansion, Blackrock Mountain, cards are trickling out more and more quickly. Today’s new additions have provoked a very mixed reaction from the community.
The first, Blackwing Corruptor, could well be an excellent mid-range card in the hopefully-upcoming dragon type decks. We’ve only seen one dragon that looks strong in the cards revealed so far, but there are still 18 left to come. A number of pro players have suggested that this card has significant potential even with just the cards revealed so far, as a potentially better version of Fire Elemental.
The second new Mage card, Dragon’s Breath, has provoked a much less enthusiastic response. Despite some undeniably cool card art, the spell seems somewhat without a place in Mage considering the class already has such high quality spell cards. With Frostbolt and Flamecannon already providing the same level of damage without requiring a good situation to be playable, it seems this card likely won’t see much use. Still, there’s a chance it could find a place in some specialty decks once the top deckbuilders have a chance to test with it.
With almost half the cards now revealed, we have plenty of cards to interact with dragons. Now we just need more of the dragons themselves.
