MarsTV Dota 2 League teams said they would not be comfortable making the trip to China so shortly after the recently rescheduled Kiev Major.

The news comes roughly two weeks after Valve announced it would reschedule the Kiev Major by a week in order to accommodate other large events taking place prior to the $3 million event. The Dota 2 developer was most likely referring to the upcoming Dota 2 Asian Championship.

Despite boasting a $250,000 prize pool, the dates for the event weren’t announced until Dec. 19 last year, roughly a month after MDL made the dates for its LAN finals known.

With more than a month left until the start of the Kiev Major, it’s already received sharp criticism on multiple fronts. Aside from the rescheduling, fans seemed to be unable to purchase tickets from Ukrainian event service Karabas due to widespread ticket scalping. Additionally, Valve is yet to announce the full list of teams that will be invited to the Kiev Major’s upcoming online qualifiers, which are scheduled to begin on March 6.
