On the 15th of June, the Australian Cyber League (ACL) kicked off their first-ever online Call of Duty League. Over five weeks, eight teams would engage in a round-robin fashion play style, with each team competing twice against every other team. The top four teams coming out of this extended pool-play would then advance to the playoffs.

Coming into the playoffs, fan-favourite team PLT.Mindfreak were first in points, just ahead of Integral Nation, giving these two teams first and second seed respectively. Third seed went to New Zealand powerhouse team Uproar.iGnitionZ, and fourth to Team Skyfire.

Round 1 of the playoffs saw an early upset when PLT.Mindfreak were unseated by Team Skyfire, who took down Mindfreak in a 3-1 series. Meanwhile, Integral Nation were facing off against Uproar.iGnitionZ. Integral won the series with a 3-0 sweep against the New Zealand team.

Uproar.iG and PLT.Mindfreak then went head-to-head in the Losers’ Bracket Round 1. Following a hard-fought series, Uproar.iG took out the win 3-2 in round 11 of Search & Destroy, eliminating PLT.Mindfreak from the competition. The Uproar.iG squad went on to face Team Skyfire in the Losers’ Bracket Round 2. Team Skyfire, having been knocked out of the winners’ round by Integral in a 3-0 series, rallied their team to take the victory over Uproar.iG, 3-1.

Team Skyfire then advanced to the Grand Final, where they were to play in a continuation series against Integral Nation. The Integral Nation troop were too strong though. They won the series convincingly in a 6-0 sweep over Team Skyfire, putting Integral Nation in #1st place overall and Team Skyfire in #2nd. Places #3 and #4 went to Uproar.iG and PLT.Mindfreak respectively.

ACL has announced plans to continue the ACL Call of Duty League over a second season, to be announced later in the year.
