Fortnite’s servers have gone down as Epic Games prepares to load up the game’s new 4.4 update, which brings about some interesting new changes to the battle royale title.
The new update includes the brand new Stink Bomb item, which has been detailed in the patch notes. The Stink Bomb is of Epic rarity, and it creates a “stinky cloud” that deals five damage for every half-second within the cloud.
The stinky damage cloud lasts for nine seconds, it can be found from floor loot, chests, and Vending Machines, and it can be found in stacks of three with a maximum stack of five.
One of the more significant changes in the patch notes this week is some changes to the rocket launcher. The RPG has seen a significant increase in reload time based on rarity. The Rare version’s reload speed has been increased from 2.8 seconds from 2.3, the Epic’s to 2.66 seconds from 2.185, and the Legendary’s to 2.52 from 2.07.
In a further effort to try to decrease the weapon’s viability, you will now only be able to carry a maximum of 12 unloaded rocket ammo in your inventory. Both of these changes should make the rocket’s ability to be spammed in the late game a bit less common now.
Today’s update has also added a new limited time mode called Final Fight: Teams of 20. This mode works a lot like the normal Teams of 20 mode, with five teams of 20 players fighting it out across the map, but there’s a unique twist. The storm will stop pushing after the third circle, and a final countdown timer will begin. The remaining teams will fight until the timer expires, and the team with the most players remaining at the end of the timer will win the game.
Fortnite’s servers should be up within the next few hours when update 4.4 will be playable and all of the changes can be experienced first-hand.
