Fnatic sweep H2k-Gaming out of the EU LCS Playoffs

Off-meta antics see Fnatic through to the semifinals.

No one would’ve expected H2k to lose, let alone lose this badly—yet they did.

Fnatic caused the biggest surprise of the playoffs so far by taking down H2k-Gaming in the EU LCS Spring Playoffs 3-0.

H2k were the overwhelming favourites on paper but showed none of the individual skill and impressive teamplay that made them a force to be reckoned with during the regular season.

A much improved Fnatic side won their games by choosing off-meta picks with champions such as Twitch, Vayne, Aurelion Sol and the classic Camille support throughout the three games to give Fnatic the overwhelming victory.

In game three H2k even felt the need to ban out Aatrox, a strategy that has not been employed in the LCS in a number of years.

H2k-Gaming looked like a shell of their former selves, easily being punished for poor plays as lack of communication seemed to be one of the dominating factors that aided towards their defeat, unable to pile the pressure on Fnatic during team fights and generally looked out of ideas, out of mind and now out of the playoff tournament.

Martin “Rekkles” Larsson led the Fnatic side to win their three matches on three different champions—Twitch, Vayne, and Kennen—in a much improved display.

Fnatic barely qualified for the Spring Playoffs by beating Misfits in the final week of the EU LCS Spring Split, stopping Roccat’s resurgence in the process to set up this match against H2k.

No one could’ve expected this Fnatic turn around after losing former head coach, Nicholas “NicoThePico” Korsgård back on March 20 but since his departure the team have showcased the raw potential we expected to see at the start of the split.

No one could have predicted this dominance from Fnatic after a turbulent regular season. The team parted ways with coach Nicholas “NicoThePico” Korsgård just a few weeks ago—but his departure seems to spurred this run of form.

Fnatic now set up a semi-final matchup between themselves and G2 Esports next weekend, with Misfts facing the Unicorns of Love in the other matchup.
