Following a surprisingly successful run through the group stage, including wins over Newbee, and Team Liquid, Digital Chaos lost to Chinese side VGJ earlier today. Though they lost both games of the series, Digital Chaos were not without their impressive moments throughout the confrontation.

VG.J got pummeled early on in the opening game, as Digital Chaos were constantly on the offense. Eventually, however, the team’s critically acclaimed support-duo of Xu “fy” Linsen, and Lu “Fenrir” Chao were able to set up teamfights properly. This allowed both midlaner Liu “Freeze” Chang, and carry player Sun “Agressif” Zheng to clean up Digital Chaos.

In the end, Freeze’s Medusa became too strong for Digital Chaos to combat head-on, leading to a series of poor teamfights for the team, which resulted in the first game of the series narrowly going to VGJ.

Abed escapes VG.J, but Digital Chaos can’t escape the Chinese squad falling 2-0.

The second game didn’t offer nearly as much entertainment as the opening clash, as Digital Chaos fell behind VGJ almost immediately. The only moments of hope for the North American squad were mostly from the combined efforts of midlaner Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop’s Invoker and Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho’s Nyx Assassin. The pair were able to secure several pickoffs throughout the midgame.

But despite the space this created for the rest of the players on Digital Chaos, VGJ captain Bai “rOtk” Fan’s extremely farmed Centaur Warrunner seemed to be unkillable. The veteran offlaner disrupted almost all of Digital Chaos’ attempts at teamfighting. A final confrontation saw the North American’s lose two set of barracks, and without a buyback on their carry player Mason “mason” Venne, Digital Chaos’ run at the Kiev Major was over.

VGJ will now face the victor of the evening’s final match between Virtus Pro and Invictus Gaming Vitality. That match begins on April 28 at 5:30am CST.
