The Overwatch League’s Shanghai Dragons went completely winless during the inaugural season. It’s an unfortunate feat that landed them at the bottom of the Overwatch League rankings with a -120 map differential.
Management is heading back to the dugout to regroup, Shanghai staff said in a post on Twitter. “We sincerely appreciate everyone for supporting us during Overwatch League season one,” the organization tweeted. “Our players and staff have returned home for rest, and then will regroup in Shanghai afterward.”

The team will begin reviewing performance during season one and start planning for season two. A lot went wrong for Shanghai in season one, and it’s going to take a lot of work to overhaul the team for season two.
Shanghai doesn’t have to worry about being kicked out of the Overwatch League for poor results in season one; the franchising system keeps them from being relegated. But regardless of that, they’ll want to revamp the roster to have a better chance at some extra cash during season two.
If they do intend to keep the majority of the players from season one, they’re going to need some serious work. Communication is a huge problem for the Shanghai team.
A start date for season two of the Overwatch League hasn’t been announced yet. The regular season is over, but playoffs have yet to begin. The post-season action kicks off July 11 at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles before the grand finals event on July 28 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
