If you’ve deleted a character in World of Warcraft: The War Within and have since come to regret your decision, there’s an easy way to restore your deleted toon. But it’s only possible if you meet the character restoration requirements.
Here’s what you need to do to restore a deleted character in WoW: The War Within.
How to restore a deleted character in WoW: The War Within
Restoring a deleted WoW character may sound tricky initially, but it’s really easy to do. In WoW, you can restore a deleted character from the main screen by clicking the “rewind arrow,” and pressing the character restoration arrow for the character you’d like to restore. To go through the restoration process, simply:
- Log in to World of Warcraft.
- Select the anti-clockwise arrow in the bottom right-hand corner of the character list.
- You’ll see a list of all the characters you’ve deleted from this server. When you know which character you’d like to restore, select the restore arrow beside the character’s profile.
- Press Okay to confirm you’d like to restore this character.
- Back on the home screen, which will now show your deleted character, press Okay to confirm your character has been restored.
Why can’t I restore my deleted character in WoW?
If you’re having trouble restoring a deleted character in WoW, it can be due to four key factors: Your deleted character’s level and time since deletion, your number of characters, realm health and restrictions, and your character’s name.
1) Deleted character’s level and time since deletion
If your character’s under level 10 or from a Class Trial, there’s no way to restore it. If it’s between levels 10 and 29, you have 90 days to restore your character. For characters between levels 30 and 49, you have 120 days, and for all characters over level 50, you can restore them indefinitely—as long as it doesn’t conflict with the other limitations.
2) Number of characters
If you’ve hit the maximum characters for your server, you can’t restore a deleted character. So, if there’s one character you really want to resurrect to play in WoW again, you’ll need to then sacrifice another character for the one you want.
3) Realm health and restrictions
If your deleted character was on a decommission or merged realm or was being played on a restricted realm (e.g., one locked or that had faction imbalances), you won’t be able to restore them.
4) Character’s name
If your deleted character’s name is the same as one of your active characters you’ll have to either choose between the two characters or rename one of them. This is a paid service, so you’ll be spending a bit of real-world money to change your character’s name.
If you’ve deleted a WoW character and want to restore it, this is everything you need to know about how to do so and the restoration limitations. As Blizzard customer support can’t restore characters for you, be sure you’re 100 percent certain of your decision before first deleting a character. It’ll save you a lot of hassle and heartache in the long run.
