Sledgehammer Games’ chief operating and development officer, Michael Condrey, confirmed on Twitter earlier today that Theater Mode won’t be a part of Call of Duty: WWII, which is slated for release on Nov. 3.

Theater Mode is an in-game feature that allows players to record and save gameplay straight to the game’s library. The mode has previously been included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and all three titles in the Black Ops series.

When Theater wasn’t included this year in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the community was hoping that Sledgehammer Games wouldn’t make the same mistake in WWII. But today, one of the community’s worst fears came true.

A fan on Twitter asked, “Will there be a ‘theater mode’ in WWII?” Condrey then delivered the heartbreaking news.

“There will not,” he said. “Very sorry. But the Share functionality on the PS4 is very powerful for capturing and uploading.”

Although Condrey is right about the PlayStation 4’s great share feature, the community still seems upset that Theater won’t be a part of WWII—especially for those who won’t be playing it on PS4.

Theater Mode has been a huge asset to previous Call of Duty titles, and many fans are wondering if WWII will succeed without it.
