New additions in Pokémon Go have arrived as part of the Max Out season, including the return of Skwovet—and there’s one big difference this time around.
The adorable Galar Pokémon may not be a new face in Pokémon Go, having made its debut previously, but Skwovet is taking center stage in the Max Out season alongside other Galar Pokémon.
If you want to add an extra Skwovet or two to your collection, we’ve got the details you need—along with the answer to whether Skwovet can be Shiny.
How to catch Skwovet in Pokémon Go
Skwovet is a wild spawn in Pokémon Go, and there are increased chances of encountering Skwovet during the Max Out season, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find. If you are struggling, you can increase your chances by using Incense at Pokéstops or visiting a large town or city where more Pokémon spawn regularly.
The greedy squirrel Pokémon can also be encountered by completing Field Research Tasks, so make sure you keep spinning Pokéstops to have a fresh supply of tasks to tackle!
Can Skwovet be Shiny in Pokémon Go?
Yes, Skwovet can be Shiny in Pokémon Go. New additions to Pokémon Go rarely have their Shiny versions drop at the same time, which is the case for Skwovet—a Pokémon already available in Pokémon Go.
Skwovet’s Pokémon Go debut came at the start of the Ultra Unlock Pat 3: Sword and Shield event in Aug. 2021, so the wait for a Shiny Skwovet has been over three years.
How to evolve Skwovet in Pokémon Go
No special materials or items are required to evolve Skwovet in Pokémon Go. Instead, all you need is 50 Skwovet Candy to evolve Skwovet into Greedent. As this Pokémon will be a regular spawn, you should be able to build an ample supply.
If you find yourself short of the Skwovet Candy you need, the best approach is to use a Pinap Berry on a wild Skwovet—as this doubles the amount of Skwovet Candy you receive from a successful catch.
You can also equip Skwovet as your Partner Pokémon and get walking, though this approach will take longer.
