The Genshin Impact 5.0 update has introduced Natlan, a colorful region filled with new characters and prehistoric creatures. On top of dealing damage, characters from Natlan have unique exploration abilities included in their kits, making them incredibly valuable for traversing the overworld.
Luckily, Genshin has included three prehistoric animals better known as Saurians that offer similar exploration abilities for all players. Here is everything you need to know about using Suarians in Genshin Impact.
How to transform into Saurians in Genshin Impact
Since Saurians inhabit Natlan, you can only transform into these creatures in the new region in Genshin Impact. To take control of one of the three Saurian lizards, walk up to the reptile until you see an orange circle above its head. By pressing the “T” key you’ll immediately teleport into the animal’s body, where you can utilize unique exploration abilities.
Using a Saurian’s abilities steadily consumes Phlogiston, an energy resource unique to Natlan. This molten energy is found throughout the entire region, and interacting with Plogiston-rich minerals will refill the bar. You can see how much Phlogiston you currently have by looking at the glowing orange bar above your health.
Here are all three of the Saurians you can currently control in Genshin Impact’s 5.0 update:
Tepetlisaur
These cute brown lizards are typically found around mountain ranges, as they love burrowing underground. By taking control of a Tepetlisaur, you can dig beneath the surface to uncover treasure or climb up steep cliffside without using stamina.
Tepetlisaurs can help you traverse large areas quickly, so long as you interact with glowing Molten Fissures. You can only enter these glowing rocks while controlling a Tepetlisaur, but they’ll quickly launch you up a cliff or across large valleys. While traveling underground you can auto-attack to unleash small waves of Geo damage to break rocks, but it won’t harm most opponents.
Yumkasaur
The Yumkasaur are green raptors that use their tongues to fling themselves around Natlan. By transforming into these lizards, you can latch onto points in the sky to easily climb mountains or trees. While grappling through the air the Yumkasaur can auto-attack to perform a double jump, perfect for climbing steep terrain.
Furthermore, Yumkasaurs can use their tongues to pick up and launch a fiery fruit named Flamegranates. While holding a Flamegranate in your mouth as a Yumkasaur hold down the attack button to enter aiming mode, similar to a bow and arrow, to shoot the fiery fruit and create a large explosion of Pyro damage.
Koholasaur
The third Saurian you can control is a Koholasaur, a large shark that swims incredibly fast in the ocean. By becoming a Koholasaur, you can easily traverse large bodies of water without drowning and uncover treasure beneath the ocean’s surface.
Koholasaurs don’t have to stay in the water, but they do walk around land significantly slower than other Saurians. Luckily, you can interact with glowing water rings around Natlan to launch your Koholasaur through the air. These rings will typically fly your Koholasaur from one body of water to another, so you can just keep swimming.
