Titan Quest 2’s combat encounters aim to make life ‘as hard as possible’ for players

Are you up to the challenge?

Titan Quest 2 won’t stray too far from the established formula, but players can expect to face some difficulties from combat, which has been crafted to be as challenging as possible.

The sequel to the original title, first launched in 2006, was unveiled a year ago. Now, a gameplay trailer for Titan Quest 2 was shown at the THQ Nordic Showcase on Aug. 2, giving players insight into what to expect.

Combat is undoubtedly the biggest talking point, with the developer’s intention to make it “as hard as possible” for players. But Titan Quest 2 won’t head off in a different direction with a soulslike and, instead, retains the “true ARPG” approach.

Enemy types in Titan Quest 2 belong to different factions, each featuring varying tactics, strengths, and weaknesses. Learning those tactics provides an advantage to counter them, but it isn’t required; the approach you choose is up to you.

The gameplay trailer also highlighted the in-depth character customization feature, providing free rein to create whoever you like. That’s not the end of the road, though, as the armor and weapons you gather will alter your look further.

Like the first game, there are no pre-defined character classes in Titan Quest 2. Instead, players choose two masteries. New to the series is the synergy that masteries have with one another, allowing you to create unique builds to suit your playstyle.

Skills learned alongside your masteries can be modified and enhanced, providing more build customization. Some of those modifiers provide stat enhancements, while others change the skill itself, like adding fire elements to attacks.

We’re still waiting on a release window for Titan Quest 2, but we know it will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
