The latest Fortnite: Battle Royale event took place today. Tilted Towers was destroyed as the volcano finally erupted and lava traveled across the Fortnite island.
Pillars spawned in the hatch at Loot Lake and players were forced to make a choice on which one to attack. Each pickaxe swing on a pillar was basically a vote for a previously-vaulted item to return to the game.
Unfortunately for some, however, when the timer eventually reached zero, nothing happened.
What should have been a shared event with the community, similar to other events in the past, completely failed for a lot of people. When the timer reached zero, it continuously disappeared and reappeared, leaving players stuck in a lobby unable to shoot or do anything.
This has obviously left a lot of people unhappy. Several fans are asking Epic Games to bring back the event for those who missed it, but that’s unlikely to happen.
Update May 4 3:55pm CT: Epic Games released a statement about this issue on Twitter.
Epic apologized to fans who couldn’t experience the event and said that “for those players who were unable to participate, we are working to release replay files of the event so that you can witness the Unvaulting from within the client.”
