Vitality took on G2 Esports in a grueling best-of-three semifinal at the Charleroi Esports Counter-Strike minor and won.
Despite G2’s star carries known for their mechanical prowess and pin-point precision, Vitality took the series.
Under the in-game leading of Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, the team played as a cohesive unit, staying one step ahead of G2. The French teams went head-to-head in the first two matches on Nuke and Overpass, but Vitality were in their element on Cache. They dominated G2 13-2 in their T half before closing out the series, 16-5.
G2’s Kenny “kennyS” Schrub had another underwhelming performance, failing to frag when it mattered the most and crumbling under the pressure. His team had some promising moments throughout the series, but Vitality played to their win conditions and positioned G2 in a tight stranglehold.
The German team, Sprout, await Vitality in the grand finals, having beat LDLC and Epsilon, 2-0, to advance to their position. The finals are scheduled to take place at 2:00am CT with a $113,109.03 prize pool.
