What you need to survive in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies map, Ancient Evil

"The winged steed will aid you."

The newest Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies map, Ancient Evil, became available on PlayStation 4 on March 26—and it’s a lot of fun to play.

It’s the final map in the Chaos storyline that takes players to Delphi, Greece. Ancient Evil introduces the Gegenees boss zombie and some sweet new wonder weapons.

But how exactly can you make it to the high rounds on this new map? Here’s everything that you’ll need to acquire or unlock in order to survive in Ancient Evil.

Apollo’s Will

The buildable shield has become a necessity in every recent Zombies map—but this new shield in Ancient Evil might be one of the best ones yet. And just like most shields, you’ll need to find three parts spread across the map to build Apollo’s Will in Ancient Evil.

The first part can be found in three spots in the Upper Road area. The second part can be acquired by killing a Gegenees after picking up the Golden Bridle in either the Intersection of Treasuries or the Stoa of the Athenians. The third and final part can spawn in two possible locations at the Intersection of Treasuries or one spot at the Stoa of the Athenians.

Once you have all three parts, head to the Marketplace where you’ll find a workbench that will allow you to craft Apollo’s Will. This shield is even better than a generic one because it comes equipped with 15 mystical spears that spawn small portals when thrown.

You’ll definitely want to build Apollo’s Will as soon as possible whenever you play Ancient Evil.

Pack-a-Punch

The Pack-a-Punch machine is another essential part of any Zombies map. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to unlock the Pack-a-Punch in Ancient Evil.

There are five steps that you’ll need to complete in order to unlock the Pack-a-Punch in this map.

1) Activate the Sentinel Artifact in the Amphitheater.

2) Find the Golden Bridle either at the Intersection of Treasuries or the Stoa of the Athenians.

3) Ride the Pegasus at the Spartan Monument—you’ll enter a brief cutscene, which takes you to the River of Sorrow.

4) Use your Specialist Weapon to free two eagles from separate cages in Python Path and Cliff Ruins.

5) Head to the Center of the World.

After you survive a ritual in the Center of the World, the Pack-a-Punch machine will appear in this area. You’ll now be free to upgrade your weapons as often as you want.

Elemental gauntlets

Ancient Evil introduces four epic wonder weapons for Zombies fans to enjoy. There are four elemental gauntlets in Ancient Evil—and you’ll need to follow specific steps to build and upgrade each of them.

First, you’ll need to find a Dormant Hand. These objects are spread across the map. You can get a clue as to where they’re located by talking to the Oracle in the initial spawn room.

Once you find a Dormant Hand, you’ll need to take it to one of the four shrines. After doing a brief ritual, you can then pick up an un-upgraded version of that gauntlet. To upgrade your gauntlet, you’ll need to complete an additional step specific to that particular weapon and then do another ritual.

Popular YouTuber NoahJ456 put together a great guide that easily shows you how to build and upgrade each gauntlet in Ancient Evil.

Pegasus Strike

The Pegasus Strike is an insanely-powerful piece of equipment that literally allows you to summon a Pegasus to kill hordes of the living dead.

To build this item, you’ll need to collect three parts in the underworld portion of the map. There are three potential spawn locations for each part. The first part can be found in the River of Sorrow. The second part will be in Python Pass, while the third part will spawn in Cliff Ruins.

Once you have all three parts, head to the forge area in Cliff Ruins to build your Pegasus Strike. This item will replace whatever is in your equipment slot (R1 on PS4)—but trust us, it’s definitely worth it.

Ancient Evil is a lot of fun and arguably one of the best maps available in Black Ops 4 Zombies so far. We strongly recommend trying this map out as soon as you get the chance.
