How to fix the Run This Town bug in Cyberpunk 2077

So, about that door...

When it comes to single-player titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, whenever a certain mission becomes a burning topic, it’s usually due to one of two things—it’s either very important to the storyline or plagued by major bugs. Unfortunately, in the case of Run This Town in Phantom Liberty, it appears to be the latter.

Although Run This Town is merely a side quest in Phantom Liberty, that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the most highly discussed missions in the new DLC thanks to its apparent game-breaking bugs. For those having trouble with this mission, or curious about how to avoid running into potential issues with it, here’s the latest on what you need to know.

The main culprit causing problems when it comes to the Run This Town mission is one where the Black Sapphire’s metal shutters have been permanently dropped, preventing players from entering the area to complete it.

The glitch seems to arise depending on what players did in an earlier Phantom Liberty quest. To prevent this issue from happening, you will simply need to refrain from starting a fight with the BARGHEST soldiers upon being escorted out of the Black Sapphire in the main mission, You Know My Name. As such, although players are encouraged to do whatever they want in Cyberpunk 2077, you should exercise caution in being overly aggressive in this area of Dogtown until further notice.

Unfortunately, if you have already encountered this issue, it seems your only options are reloading a previous save and being less bold in You Know My Name or using a noclip mod on PC to fly through the wall.

While this bug has been happening since the launch of Phantom Liberty, fortunately, it appears its days are numbered. On Oct. 20, CD PROJEKT RED revealed in its 2.02 patch notes that it has “fixed the shutters blocking entry to Black Sapphire in Run This Town.” This update is also said to include a fix for the Path of Glory bug in Cyberpunk 2077’s main campaign, so there will no doubt be plenty of players waiting for it to be released.

Aside from this main bug, it also appears there’s still a handful of other nasty bugs—albeit easier to fix via reloading previous saves—tied to Run This Town that CD PROJEKT RED will need to take a look at. From the elevator needed to start the mission in the first place seemingly being out of order to Mr. Hands himself bugging out during the briefing and even game-crashing bugs occurring upon clearing the mission, you’re simply not alone if you’re running into various issues with this quest.

Of course, Run This Town is just one of the later side quests in the expansion, so if you’re having issues with it, it isn’t the end of the world, but we’d certainly hope it gets cleaned up sooner rather than later.
