Hot off the heels of R6 Pro League regular season, Ubisoft has unveiled its plans for the R6 Minor from June 7 to 9 in Las Vegas. The winner will walk away with the grand prize of $30,000 and qualify for the R6 Major later this year.
Both Challenger League and Pro League teams will participate in the R6 Minor. There are 16 slots up for grabs in the first Minor of the year, but 12 of them are reserved for current Pro and Challenger teams, according to Ubisoft. The remaining four slots will be filled by teams that make it through the qualifier gauntlet. Ubisoft also said that every slot is first come, first served. This means teams will have to be ready at 11am CT this Wednesday when applications open.
One qualifier from each of the NA, LATAM, and EU divisions will go through to the R6 Minor. The APAC division won’t be active in the qualifiers and will instead be directly invited by Ubisoft to fill the final slot. Teams outside of the Challenger and Pro League can participate in the qualifiers by signing up through the links provided in the official post. The online qualifiers for NA, LATAM, and EU divisions take place on May 11 and 12.
The team that comes out on top of the R6 Minor will qualify for the Major, which will take place in August. If the top team has already earned a spot in the R6 Major, then the second-place squad will qualify.
Although the name of the event is a Minor, there’s nothing minor about it since it directly influences the Major. It’ll be yet another exciting opportunity for fans to watch their favorite R6 teams battle it out for the top spot.
