Dynamax Pokémon have made their way over to the Pokémon Go mobile game, and players have the opportunity to catch them. With any Pokémon being added to the game, many players ask the same thing: Are there Shiny Dynamax Pokémon?
A Shiny version of a Pokémon is a unique color palette swap that makes it appear different from the standard form. The chances of catching a Shiny Pokémon are low, but they’re highly sought after by many Pokémon trainers throughout the traditional games and Pokémon Go. Here’s what you need to know about catching Shiny Dynamax Pokémon and what we can expect from the mobile game.
Are Shiny Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go?
We can confirm that you can catch a Shiny Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go. Like the other Pokémon in the mobile game, there’s a small chance of you encountering a Dynamax Pokémon. The only way for you to catch one is by finding it at a Power Spot and defeating it using a Dynamax Pokémon from your collection.
The chances of encountering a Shiny Dynamax Pokémon are low, though. These are rare versions of a Pokémon, and the unique color swap is a distinct feature used throughout the Pokémon series. Don’t expect to find one after defeating a Dynamax Pokémon from a Power Spot with your friends, but the odds are in your favor the more Power Spot activities you complete in Pokémon Go.
There’s always the chance Niantic could increase the odds of a Shiny Pokémon appearing as a Dynamax Pokémon in future events. The devs do this relatively often for specific Pokémon. For example, if a Pokémon has a Community Day event, it increases all players’ chances of encountering a Shiny Pokémon in the wild. As Dynamax Pokémon and battles become more frequent in the mobile game, there’s a good chance Niantic could increase the odds of players finding a Shiny after completing a battle.
We don’t know for sure, though. But we can confirm that Shiny Dynamax Pokémon are in Pokémon Go. Dynamax Pokémon are different from traditional Pokémon in your collection as they can use their Dynamax Form at a Power Spot. You can only get a Dynamax Pokémon from these locations, which means you’ll want to explore your local neighborhoods to unlock more Max Particles and prepare for these battles.
