Order claim their first Contenders Australia trophy, dethroning the Drop Bears

Order are now the champions of Australian Overwatch, taking down the Sydney Drop Bears 4-1 today at IEM Sydney. This marks the first time that Order have won the regional tournament, earning them the opportunity to represent Australia at the Pacific Showdown.

The Sydney Drop Bears looked set to take the opening map, Oasis, but a great turn around by Order on Gardens swung the momentum firmly in their favor. They proceeded to full hold the Drop Bears on King’s Row for the first time before overpowering the three-time champions on Horizon Lunar Colony.

After going down 3-0, the Sydney Drop Bears pulled one back on Watchpoint: Gibraltar following a great Winston performance from Niko “ChroNoDotA” Raisanen. But Order put the game to bed on Nepal after a massive Self-Destruct from Adam Soong to claim their first title.

After three seasons of domination, the Sydney Drop Bears have faltered in the first season of 2019. Their 24-game win streak was previously broken by Blank Esports and they had to find a late replacement for main tank Teetawat Teerasyotin before IEM Sydney.

For Order, however, this has been a long time coming. They’ve made every season playoffs, only to fall short of hoisting the Contenders Australia title. Sticking to their guns and their signature GOATs composition, Order looked convincing in the regular season and carried that momentum into the finals.

Aside from James “Yuki” Stanton, who’s appeared at two Overwatch World Cups, the Pacific Showdown in Shanghai will be the first international tournament for all of Order. They’ll join Pacific champions Talon Esports and the top two teams in Korea and China at the six-team tournament.

The Pacific Showdown starts on May 24.
