If you’re a newer fan to Dota, you’ve probably heard of these events. They are renowned for their prizes and fun, and thought to be a thing of the past (the last one was Year Beast 2015.) In a surprise announcement on the Dota 2 Blog, however, the Dota developer team has announced a brand new event: Dark Moon. The Dark Moon update features a brand new gamemode titled Dark Moon. It features a pool of 18 heroes, a new map, and its own set of rules.

Also released today was the announcement of the 2017 Winter Battle Pass. The Winter Battle Pass is similar to last season’s Fall Battle Pass. You can purchase the Battle Pass in the Dota 2 client.

The Winter Battle Pass includes (as of January 26, list is subject to additions):

  • Seasonal Terrain
  • Winter Battle Cup
  • Three New Quests
    • Path of the Paragon
    • Path of the Inquisitor
    • Path of the Skirmisher
