A new Call of Duty mobile game is on the way

Call of Duty on the go? Sounds good to us.

A mobile version of one of the most popular console FPS games is in the works. King Digital Entertainment, a social games company, plans to develop a mobile version of Call of Duty.

King was acquired by Activision, the publishers of Call of Duty, back in February 2016. With Activision interested in bringing Call of Duty’s success to mobile, it makes sense that it would enlist King for the project—the company has created extremely popular mobile games in the past, such as Candy Crush Saga.

While neither Activision nor King has released much information about the Call of Duty mobile game, King made a brief post about the project on its website.

“Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre,” the statement on King’s website reads. “Our approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic game experience.”

King’s version of the fan-favorite franchise will be Activision’s first mobile Call of Duty game since 2014, when Call of Duty: Heroes was released by Faceroll Games. Other mobile games in the franchise include Call of Duty: Strike Team, Call of Duty: Black Ops Mobile, and Call of Duty: Zombies.

It could be difficult for King to recreate the success of the Call of Duty console series, which has been a top-selling game in the United States for several years in a row. With the promise of a new Call of Duty game for mobile, fans of the franchise are most likely hoping King can accomplish its goal and create a great game.
