Black Myth: Wukong rockets past 1.4 million players on launch day

Black Myth: Wukong has rocketed to the top of the charts just hours after officially launching on Steam. This souls-like was always expected to do well, but rocketing to number 4 most played games on steam (ever) has surely defied some expectations.

This new souls-like from developers Game Science have created a global mega-hit with only their second game on Steam. It’s launched eight years after their debut title, Art of War: Red Tides and has surely surpassed all expectations.

After the success of The First Descendant and then the sustained success of Once Human — both creations of Chinese development houses — it’s safe to say that China is, without a doubt, now a major player in the world of game development.

Dubbed as stunningly beautiful and highly enjoyable by a myriad of game reviewers, Black Myth: Wukong also enjoys a whopping 94% positive review rating on Steam to date.

The gorgeous graphics, paired with the fact that the game is easy to pick up and hard to master has made it a sensation. But at 128GB to download, you’d expect it to the beautiful. You’d also expect to need a top-tier PC to play it (for the PC players among us).

Thankfully, the game’s recommended requirements are actually quite reasonable. You’ll need a 64-bit processor and operating system. Beyond that, however, you’ll only need the equivalent of an Intel Core i7-9700, a NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060, and 16GB of ram.

That’s not bad for a game that looks this good.

Black Myth: Wukong is available on Steam now and if you’d like to get your hands on this stunning game, expect to pay a full $60 for it — but if early impressions are anything to go by, it’s well worth the buy.
