How to fix Apex Legends error messages: Party Not Ready, Party Leader Quit, and Out of Sync with Server

Learn exactly what those pesky errors are and how you can fix them.

Error messages in Apex Legends have a habit of popping up at the worst times, alerting you about a problem before, during, or after a game.

In most cases, error messages will only appear once before fading away. Every error isn’t the same, though, and sometimes a server blunder or hardware issue can cause your game to stop working.

Some of the most infamous errors include the Party Not Ready, Party Leader Quit, and Out of Sync with Server messages. Here’s what you can do to fix them.

Party Not Ready

The Party Not Ready message generally appears when a player is stopped from entering a game. Most of the time, it just pops up randomly. But thankfully there are several ways to fix the issue.

The first and simplest way to fix it is to restart your game. If you joined another player’s lobby, you can also try leaving it and inviting your friends to your newly-created lobby to see if that works instead.

If you aren’t playing with friends, however, and those two options aren’t fixing the issue, you might need to find an alternative fix. Try to access the Game Menu or Settings Menu (which can be located in the lower right corner of your screen) and click the “Return to Main Menu” option. This will take you back to Apex’s main menu where you can try to make a lobby once more.

If these issues still persist after trying all of the quick fixes, you may be forced to either restart your game client on PC or the game on console. If that keeps failing, it might be best to reinstall the game onto your chosen device. This should be only be done as a last resort, however.

Party Leader Quit

The Apex Party Leader Quit error is seemingly random. It can appear out of nowhere before or after a match.

You’ll likely get the error when you or the party leader have been AFK for a few minutes in the lobby. If you are the party leader, this can be easily fixed by taking back the lead. If you are a friend waiting in lobby, however, it might be a good idea to go find another match.

If the problem appears during a game or at the end of one, you can’t get rid of it through regular means. It shouldn’t affect your game, but if it starts to get really annoying, then the only way to purge it is to restart the game client or console and reload Apex.

Out of Sync with Server

An annoying PC-exclusive error is the Out of Sync with Server message, which forces combatants out of a game at any given time without warning.

At first glance, it seems like a server issue, but some players and community members have found a fix for the problem. Don’t worry, though, it won’t involve you getting a new internet provider or force you to fix Respawn’s server issues yourselves.

To fix the issue, load up Apex on PC and navigate to the Settings menu (located in the bottom right of the screen). Once the Settings menu has opened, you need to click on the Video tab at the top of the screen to open up a new Video menu screen.

When you’re in the Video menu, you’ll see many different options. Continue to scroll down the page until you come across the “Texture Streaming Budget” option. Set this to “None.”

The Texture Streaming Budget setting determines how quickly textures load into the game when you’re playing. So if you spin around fast during a firefight on a system that might not be able to handle the heavy load pressure, it’ll boot you out of the game.

Tweaking this option effectively lowers the resolution during these moments, making it less likely that your system, or Respawn’s servers, are going to deny you a battle royale victory in future games.

As an extra safety net, though, it might also be wise to just lower some of Apex’s Video settings as well just to decrease the chances of the error appearing again in the future. It’ll make the game look less pretty, but at least you’ll be able to play it.
