Lords of the Fallen proved to be a strong force in sales after selling 1 million copies despite the criticisms that revolved around its release on Oct. 13, mainly because of performance issues.
The action RPG developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games already amassed the 1 million mark in terms of sales in just 10 days. The game’s official Twitter account posted the team’s appreciation for the people who supported the game right from the beginning.
In a press release, CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski pointed out how the successful release of Lords of the Fallen has impacted the company as a whole, especially since the title is regarded as its “most important and ambitious game.”
“Lords of the Fallen is the most important and ambitious game we’ve developed in our 20-year history, and the first in our new planned AAA pipeline of games in the years ahead,” Tyminski said. “To see this fresh and innovative take on the action RPG achieve one million sales in just 10 days has been humbling for everybody at Hexworks and CI Games.”
Saul Gascon, the studio head for Hexworks, also commended the fans because of their “invaluable feedback and ongoing support” for the game.
“Thank you to all the Lampbearers out there who have embarked on their journeys across Mournstead, fearlessly traversing the lands of the living and the dead,” Gascon added. “We’re incredibly grateful to the passionate Lords of the Fallen community for their invaluable feedback and ongoing support. It’s their unwavering dedication that has made this success possible, and we couldn’t be prouder to share it with them.”
Lords of the Fallen didn’t have the best release season because of various performance issues and glitches that emerged during its first week. Steam and Unreal Engine 5 players faced crossplay compatibility issues, as well as game-crashing instances that sparked a ton of mixed reviews for the game.
Since launch, however, Hexworks already released multiple game patches to fix the problems players encountered along the way. With the latest patch being live today, a handful of performance fixes for crossplay and enemy density were given. The biggest addition would be for the game’s New Game Plus mode, though, where players will have more options when it comes to keeping or removing their vestiges. You can visit the whole patch notes update by going to the game’s official Reddit post.
Lords of the Fallen is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
