100 Thieves are officially out of LCS playoff contention after losing to Echo Fox

It's been a tough season for 100 Thieves.

After their fifth winless weekend, 100 Thieves are officially out of playoff contention for the 2019 LCS Spring Split. It’s a tough ending to a season where so many expectations were set and never met by this new-look roster.

100 Thieves capped off week eight of the spring season with an uninspired performance against Echo Fox. They were absolutely routed today as Echo Fox did whatever they wanted across the map. There was no productivity from anyone on the team, and the plays they did try to make were so disjointed and confusing. Unfortunately, this was the case for a majority of this season.

Many people were hopeful for 100 Thieves, who were looking like a potential top three roster on paper. Coming off of a relatively successful 2018 season, the team made some huge additions in the offseason. By signing LCS veteran Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun and former world champion Bae “Bang” Jun-sik, 100 Thieves looked poised to make some noise in 2019.

As we now know, this roster never found the synergy needed to make their big free agent acquisitions work out. Early on, Huhi showed that he wasn’t at his best form as he was statistically one of the worst mid laners in the league this split. This was only the beginning of 100 Thieves’ problems, though, as the whole roster seemed to struggle throughout the season.

From Zaqueri “aphromoo” Black’s misplays to Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho and Andy “AnDa” Hoang constantly botching plays in the top lane, 100 Thieves continued to slide down the standings until they hit rock bottom. They’ve only won four games this split in a season where everyone thought they’d challenge the best teams in the league.
