With the level of talent in the competition, there were bound to be countless great plays and moments throughout the event. From TSM captain Ali “Myth” Kabbani’s quick and precise building to Twitch star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins’ resilience against incredible odds, the Friday Fortnite participants put on a show for fans this week.

While it’d be difficult to list every great play from this tournament, there were some moments in the event that seemed to stand above others. Those plays combined the right amount of mechanical skill, positioning, game knowledge, and in some cases, a little bit of luck.

Here are the top five plays from this week’s $20,000 Friday Fortnite tournament.

5) TFUE deletes a squad quickly

FaZe Clan’s Turner “Tfue” Tenney, who won last week’s tournament, had an incredible start to this week’s competition. Already boasting nine kills in the opening game, he quickly added four more to his name, taking out an entire team within seconds of confronting them.

Although TFUE and his teammate, Dennis “Cloak” Lepore, were defeated in the first round by the eventual runners-up and eliminated by the eventual champions later on, they still showed that they are undoubtedly two of the very best in the world.

4) TSM make it look easy, cruise to victory

Speaking of the eventual champions, TSM’s Myth and Darryle “Hamlinz” Hamlin ran through the losers bracket with unbelievable ease, taking out the likes of 100 Theives owner Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, Team Envy captain KingRichard, and FaZe en route to the title.

Their match against FaZe was an impressive showing by itself, with last week’s champions unable to even touch the kill totals TSM put up. TSM’s dominance in the series was highlighted by their teamwork that secured over 20 kills in just one game.

3) Avxry hunts down four players

Avery “Avxry” Lopriore had a handful of standout plays yesterday, including his snipe from more than 250 meters away. But even that couldn’t top his four-piece in the winners bracket semifinals.

After knocking out a player from long-range with the Hunting Rifle, Avxry hurried and used every weapon at his disposal to take out the player’s teammates, who crowded around him.

2) Ninja somehow evades death, wipes out a team

Ninja is undoubtedly the most popular Fortnite player in the world, and a lot of that has to do with his incredible skill. Somehow, the internet star can get out of situations no one has any business escaping.

That may have never been more evident than in yesterday’s tournament when Ninja took on four players by himself. With no backup and surrounded by enemies, Ninja continually built while also unleashing bullets into his opponents, taking out all of the players.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this happened due to his Fortnite prowess, but still, he should have died. But he didn’t, and that’s why he’s Ninja.

1) Hamlinz’s killing spree resets the bracket

Although it was a complete team effort for TSM to win 10 consecutive matches to claim the Friday Fortnite title, Hamlinz really shined in the grand finals. With thousands of dollars on the line, Hamlinz stepped up and pulled his team through the intense battle.

With his team down by three kills after a kill-heavy game one, Hamlinz showed why he’s one of the best players in the world. Hamlinz racked up 16 kills in the second game, many coming in a span of a minute late in the game. His streak of kills not only erased the deficit, but it also gave them a second best-of-three series to become champions.

Without his heroics in game two of the first grand finals series and another great showing in both maps of the second grand finals match, TSM would have suffered defeat yesterday.
