Do you need to fight the Wandering Wight early in Black Myth Wukong?

Wandering might not be necessary.

The Wandering Wight is a classic example of an early-game boss fight designed to test your skill level, humble veterans, and break spirits in Black Myth: Wukong—so let’s see if you need to beat it.

Black Myth: Wukong isn’t a complete Souls title in the classic sense, but it certainly embodies many of the punishing genre’s traits: High difficulty, limited healing, and respawning enemies, amongst many other elements.

Wukong has a ton of bosses to beat, and I understand if you’re apprehensive about the Wandering Wight.

You don’t need to defeat the Wandering Wight boss early on in Black Myth: Wukong, and because it’s an optional boss, you don’t need to beat it at all.

Like most Souls games, there’s a litany of bosses spread out across Black Myth: Wukong, and many are required to beat the action title, including the Whiteclad Noble. However, Wukong has optional bosses that, while tough, don’t have to be conquered to progress through the chapters.

The Wandering Wight is one such boss and serves as Black Myth‘s first feel gut-check. It has a surprisingly deep moveset for such an early fight and is pretty tanky. I recommend you don’t fight the Wandering Wight the first time you encounter it.
