If you were hoping for a buff to Apex Legends’ Mozambique you’ll be disappointed

Players think the Mozambique is the worst gun in the game.

The Mozambique has been consistently highlighted by Apex Legends players as the worst gun in the game. Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t be changing anytime soon.

In a game like Apex Legends where there is a variety of unique weapons, there will always be situations where certain ones fall behind or ahead of the pack. The Mozambique is a shotgun pistol that is meant to be used at close range. Unfortunately, even when used at close range the Mozambique doesn’t seem to be very effective.

The gun only has three shots in the chamber and fires a spread that is difficult to aim. When you do land your shots, it doesn’t do nearly as much damage as you’d expect any kind of shotgun to do. This has granted the gun meme status on Twitch and Twitter over the last few weeks, so naturally players have been calling for changes to be made to the weapon.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like the community’s prayers will be answered anytime soon. Respawn primary weapons designer Sean Slayback stated recently on the official Apex Legends Reddit that the team’s current plan is to “enjoy the memes,” and gave players advice on how to better use the gun. According to Slayback, aiming down the gun’s sights will reduce the spread and make it easier to land a big hit.

Slayback went on to add that Respawn is collecting tons of data with regard to weapon balance and how it is affecting the live game. Slayback said it is currently pleased with weapon balance in the live game and that the team is actively working on fixing bugs as they find them.

It will be interesting to see how the community reacts to the news that the Mozambique is doomed to keep its meme status as a sub-par throwaway weapon. The Mozambique may be the last weapon a player wants to see when they drop, but remember, it’s always better than dropping and finding no weapon at all. At least when you find a Mozambique you can stockpile shotgun ammo to save for a Peacekeeper.
